A rare forest. A heritage railway. A different way to live.

In one of Chile's oldest villages, two tiny houses, a shared garden and a natural pool are being built around an idea — creating a place where time feels different.

Opening 2027

Catapilco is one of the oldest settlements in Chile. The valley sits inside a sclerophyllous forest — one of only five Mediterranean ecosystems on earth, shared with California, South Africa, Australia and the Mediterranean basin. Much of this forest has disappeared. What remains here still shapes the landscape around it.

A heritage railway line borders the property. The train passes when it passes. The path along the tracks is always there — long, quiet and worth every step.

This place exists because of what surrounds it.

The place

People arrive here in different moments of life.
Some need three days of silence. Some want to make something with their hands. Some need a month to think clearly. Not everything needs to happen at once.

The three ways to stay

Reset

3 to 5 days. You arrive with whatever you're carrying. You leave lighter. No programme, no schedule. The garden, the forest, the pool and real conversation whenever you want it.

from $160 USD / night · min. 3 nights

Hands-on

5 to 10 days. Make something with your hands. Old leather jackets become one of a kind wallets — your design on the elastic band, cut and stitched by you. No experience needed. Just curiosity. What you take home fits in your pocket and stays with you every day.

from $220 USD / night · min. 5 nights

Deep stay

2 to 4 weeks. For people in transition. Catapilco won't give you the answers. But the noise drops, time stretches, and sometimes that's enough for things to start falling into place. This one we arrange directly — no booking form, just a conversation.

from $3,500 USD / month · direct conversation

The host

I'm a Chilean carpenter, builder and traveller.

I've lived abroad, speak English without effort, and have spent most of my life making things with my hands.

Dasso wasn't created as a tourism project. It began as a way of living.

This is where I live, build, listen to records and grow things. I'm not a host in the hotel sense.

You're stepping into a real place that already existed before you arrived.

If you're here for connection, the door is open. If you're here for quiet, the place already knows how to provide it.

Before you come

Dasso runs on a different logic.

The bathrooms are dry composting systems. They're clean, functional and designed with the same care as everything else here. They work — and once you understand how, they make more sense than what you're used to.

The garden is shared between the three houses. The natural pool has no chemicals. We grow some of what we eat.

None of this is sacrifice or ideology. It's just a more honest relationship with the basics. If it sounds worth trying, or even compelling, you're exactly who we had in mind.

If this feels like your kind of place… The door is open. There's room for only a few people each year. Let's make it real.
